STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Thirteen

AN ACT requiring a disclosure statement by persons seeking a party’s nomination for elective office.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Filing for Nomination. Amend RSA 655:14 to read as follows:

655:14 Filing: General Provisions. The name of any person shall not be printed upon the ballot of any party for a primary unless he or she is a registered member of that party, he or she shall have met the age and domicile qualifications for the office he or she seeks at the time of the general election, he or she meets all the other qualifications at the time of filing, and he or she shall file with the appropriate official between the first Wednesday in June and the Friday of the following week a declaration of candidacy as provided in RSA 655:17 and a disclosure statement as provided in RSA 655:17-d.

2 New Section; Disclosure Statement. Amend RSA 655 by inserting after section 17-c the following new section:

655:17-d Disclosure Statement.

I. Disclosure statements shall be in the following form and signed by the candidate:

I, ______________________, declare I am a candidate for nomination for the office of _____________________ (or for delegate to the state convention) to be made at the primary election to be held on the ______ day of _________; and I hereby declare that (check all that apply):

___ I am in agreement with all provisions of the platform of the __________ party

___ I am in agreement with the platform of the ____________ party except for the following provisions: ________________________________________________________

___ I am affiliated with the federal or state government in the following capacity:___________________________________

___ I am receiving or entitled to a federal, state, or local government pension

___ Within the last 2 years, I have received the following gifts, salary, or compensation from nongovernment or nonprofit organizations: ___________________

___ I have been or will be associated with the following clubs, nongovernment or nonprofit organizations, or other institutions: ___________________________________

___ I will not vote on or participate in any matter in which I have a pecuniary interest

II. The official receiving the disclosure statement shall make the disclosure statement available for public review and shall cause a copy of the disclosure statement to be posted to each polling place in the candidate’s district on the day of the primary election.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
