STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fourteen
AN ACT relative to the appointment of an immediate family member of a selectman to fill a vacant town office.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Filling of Vacancies; Other Offices; Appointment of Immediate Family Members Prohibited. Amend RSA 669:75 to read as follows:
669:75 Vacancies in Other Offices. Vacancies in the offices of constable, sewer commissioner, town assessor, overseers of public welfare, library trustee, and any other optional offices where no other method of filling a vacancy shall be provided by vote of the town shall be filled by appointment made by the board of selectmen. No such vacancy shall be filled by an immediate family member of any selectman.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
