This bill requires a school board that elects not to implement the academic standards adopted by the state board of education to implement alternative academic standards that meet or exceed state academic standards.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seventeen

 

AN ACT relative to implementation of alternative academic standards by a local school board.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  State Board of Education; Rulemaking Authority.  Amend RSA 186:8, I to read as follows:

I.  Academic standards for all grades of the public schools, including rules requiring that if a school board elects not to implement academic standards adopted by the state board of education, a school board shall implement alternative academic standards that meet or exceed the state academic standards.  

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
