STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seventeen

 

AN ACT requiring the estimated cost of a prison sentence to be contained in the presentence investigation report.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Paragraph; Sentences; Presentence Investigation.  Amend RSA 651:4 by inserting after paragraph II the following new paragraph:

III.  A presentence investigation report prepared pursuant to this section shall include an estimate of the cost of any recommended prison sentence, based on the most recent average annual cost of incarceration as calculated by the department of corrections.  

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
