AN ACT relative to delegates to national party conventions.

ANALYSIS

 

This bill prohibits a party from seating delegates at the national party convention from this state that have not been apportioned in accordance with state law.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seventeen

 

AN ACT relative to delegates to national party conventions.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Presidential Primary Election; Apportionment of Delegates.  Amend RSA 659:93, I to read as follows:

I.  The secretary of state shall apportion delegates to the national party conventions among the candidates voted for at the presidential primary by determining the proportion of the number of votes cast for each presidential candidate to the total votes cast for all presidential candidates of the same political party, rounded to the nearest whole number. If a party seats delegates at the national party convention from this state that have not been apportioned in accordance with this subdivision, the party shall be prohibited from participating in the next presidential primary election.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
