STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seventeen

A RESOLUTION urging Congress to investigate the lawsuits against Trump University.

Whereas, every American citizen has the expectation that our President will serve our country fairly and impartially, free from conflicts of interest; and

Whereas, every American citizen has the expectation that our President will conduct himself according to the highest possible ethical standards; and

Whereas, beginning in 2005, Donald Trump lent his name to, and was the principal investor, in the so-called "Trump University, LLC", which was not in fact a licensed or accredited institution of higher education; and

Whereas, Trump University used hard-sell tactics to pressure aspiring real-estate investors into paying to $35,000 for its largely useless seminars; and

Whereas, Donald Trump was personally involved in an enterprise whose business practices were characterized by the attorney general of the state of New York as "straight-up fraud"; and

Whereas, Donald Trump was sued for fraud in 2013 by the state of New York in the case of "New York v. Trump Entrepreneur Initiative LLC", and was also a defendant in 2 federal class-actions in federal court in the cases of "Low v. Trump University, LLC" and "Art Cohen v. Donald J. Trump,"; and

Whereas, Donald Trump settled those lawsuits out of court for a reported $25 million shortly after the 2016 election; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the New Hampshire house of representatives hereby calls upon its federal colleagues to urge immediate action by the United States Senate and United States House of Representatives to fully investigate the facts, including the subpoena and interrogation of any and all material witnesses, surrounding or relevant to Trump University and to any other potentially improper or illegal financial or business dealings in which President Trump may have been involved; and

That copies of this resolution be transmitted by the house clerk to the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and each member of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
