STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen
AN ACT naming a portion of Route 4A as the Alan Leslie Seamans highway.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Statement of Purpose. Infantryman, specialist 4 Alan Leslie Seamans was drafted to Vietnam and served a tour beginning on September 15, 1967 and was injured on October 13, 1967. As a result of his injuries, Infantryman Seamans had to undergo an amputation from the waist down at the age of 18 years old. He was told at that time that he had 3 years to live his life. However, Infantryman Seamans lived to the age of 49. During that time he became a large and inspirational part of his community in Grafton where he lived his entire life by becoming part of the Enfield fire department, an avid fisherman, hunter, and snowmobiler. Therefore, the general court hereby names a portion of Route 4A in honor of Infantryman Alan Leslie Seamans.
2 Portion of New Hampshire Route 4A Named in Honor of Alan Leslie Seamans. Pursuant to RSA 4:43, the portion of Route 4A at the junction of Route 4 from Lebanon to Wilmot is hereby named the Alan Leslie Seamans Highway. Appropriate signage may be placed along the designated portion of the highway.
3 Signage. The cost of design, construction, maintenance, and installation of any signage, replacement signage, or other markers authorized under section 2 of this act shall not be a charge to the state. However, the design, construction, and installation of any signage or other markers authorized under this act shall be approved by the department of transportation.
4 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
