ANALYSIS
This bill allows a law enforcement officer to take into possession an animal which is the subject of animal cruelty when he or she makes an arrest for animal cruelty.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen
AN ACT relative to animal cruelty and costs of care for such animals.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Cruelty to Animals; Reference Change. Amend RSA 105:14 to read as follows:
105:14 Cruelty to Animals. Whenever an officer makes an arrest upon view, or upon a warrant for a violation of any provision of [RSA 441:4-a] RSA 435:5 or RSA 644:8, [he] the officer may take into his or her possession the animal which is the subject of such cruelty, and if the owner has no knowledge of such taking [he] the officer shall give [him] the owner notice forthwith.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
