AN ACT relative to absences among officers required to be present at school district elections.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen

 

AN ACT relative to absences among officers required to be present at school district elections.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Election Officer; School Board Member.  Amend RSA 652:14 to read as follows:

652:14  Election Officer.  "Election officer'' shall mean any moderator, deputy moderator, assistant moderator, town clerk, deputy town clerk, city clerk, deputy city clerk, ward clerk, selectman, school board member, supervisor of the checklist, registrar, or deputy registrar.

2  New Section; Absences Among Election Officers; School Board Member Pro Tem.  Amend RSA 658 by inserting after section 21-a the following new section:

658:21-b  School Board Member Pro Tem.  If a school board member is absent from or unable to perform his or her duties for all or any part of the day at any school district election, the school board member is authorized to appoint a school board member pro tem to perform his or her duties.  If one or more school board members are absent or unable to perform their duties and have not appointed school board members pro tem, or if a school board member pro tem is absent or unable to perform his or her duties for all or any part of the day, the moderator is authorized to appoint school board members pro tem to perform their duties.

3  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
