STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen

 

AN ACT relative to the penalty for tampering with public records or information.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Falsification in Official Matters; Tampering With Public Records.  Amend RSA 641:7 to read as follows:

641:7  Tampering With Public Records or Information.  

I.  A person is guilty of a misdemeanor if he or she:

[I.] (a)  Knowingly makes a false entry in or false alteration of any thing belonging to, received, or kept by the government for information or record, or required by law to be kept for information of the government; or

[II.] (b)  Presents or uses any thing knowing it to be false, and with a purpose that it be taken as a genuine part of information or records referred to in paragraph I; or

[III.] II.  A person is guilty of a class B misdemeanor if he or she purposely and unlawfully destroys, conceals, removes, refuses to amend an entry that is false, or otherwise impairs the verity or availability of any such thing.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2019.
