AN ACT relative to municipal retention of employment files.

ANALYSIS

 

This bill reduces the time job application and personnel files must be retained by a municipality from 50 to 25 years after retirement or termination.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen

 

AN ACT relative to municipal retention of employment files.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Municipal Records; Disposition and Retention Schedule; Job Applications.  Amend RSA 33-A:3-a, LX to read as follows:

LX.  Job applications-successful: retirement or termination plus [50] 25 years.

2  Municipal Records; Disposition and Retention Schedule; Personnel Files.  Amend RSA 33-A:3-a, XCVI to read as follows:

XCVI.  Personnel files: retirement or termination plus [50] 25 years.

3  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
