STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen
AN ACT relative to the nomination of political candidates.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 State Party Convention; Purposes. Amend RSA 667:21, II to read as follows:
II. Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph I, a political party may, in accordance with the provisions of the party's constitution or bylaws, provide for an alternative method of determining the date, call, and purpose of the party's state convention and the selection of delegates and composition of such convention. If a party decides to hold a convention for the purpose of adopting a platform of the party, nominating presidential electors, effecting an organization for the following 2-year period and other party business as the political party determines, the convention shall be deemed to satisfy the requirements of the party under this section. A party may, in accordance with the party's constitution and bylaws, select an alternative method for nominating candidates to be used in lieu of participating in the state primary election. If an alternative method of nominating candidates is used, the list of nominees shall be submitted to the secretary of state by the Wednesday one week before the primary and each nominee shall file a declaration of intent as provided in RSA 655:17-a.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
