1 Appropriation; Department of Administrative Services; Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. There is hereby appropriated to the department of administrative services, division of plant and property, the sum necessary for contracting for the installation and maintenance of an adequate number of electric vehicle charging stations for the use of members of the general court. Such charging stations shall be installed at the state house campus or legislative parking facility and include an integrated payment system. The governor is authorized to draw a warrant for said sum out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated. The contract for the installation and/or servicing of electric vehicle charging stations shall be subject to approval by the governor and council and shall not exceed a term of 5 years.

2 Cost of Charging; Deductions from Mileage; Payment and Use. Members of the general court utilizing an electric vehicle charging station installed on the state house campus or at a legislative parking facility may have the cost of each use of such charging station deducted from the mileage payments made to each member. Such charging stations shall also accept payment by credit card, charging station provider payment system, or other cashless system and be made available for other public employee use or use by the general public when the station is not limited to use by members of the general court.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect July 1, 2018.
