STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seventeen
AN ACT making an appropriation to the department of justice to enforce election and lobbying laws.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Appropriation; Department of Justice. The sums of $100,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018 and $100,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019 are hereby appropriated to the department of justice to fund one full-time investigator position for enforcement of election and lobbying laws, including, but not limited to, filing and disclosure requirements and voter registration and voting procedures. The governor is authorized to draw a warrant for said sums out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect July 1, 2017.

METHODOLOGY:
This bill appropriates $200,000 for the biennium ending June 30, 2019 to the Department of Justice to fund one full-time investigator position to enforce election and lobbying laws. The Department states it anticipates hiring one full-time unclassified elections investigator (LG BB step 3 per RSA 94:1-a), with a starting salary of $63,239. The Department estimates salaries, benefits and expenditures will cost approximately $99,500 in FY 2018, $100,000 FY 2019, $106,000 in FY 2020 and $112,000 in FY 2021.
