STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen
AN ACT relative to school nurse certification.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 School Nurses; How Chosen. Amend RSA 200:29, I to read as follows:
I. [Each school board may appoint] A superintendent may nominate and school board elect a school nurse to function in the school health program, and provide said nurse with proper facilities and equipment. A school nurse shall be a registered professional nurse currently licensed in New Hampshire and certified by the state board of education.
2 New Paragraph; School Nurse; Certification. Amend RSA 200:29 by inserting after paragraph III the following new paragraph:
IV.(a) All school nurses hired on or before July 1, 2016 shall meet the requirements of this section. Such certification shall be valid for 3 years.
(b) All school nurses hired after July 1, 2016 and before July 1, 2020 holding an associate degree in nursing shall be enrolled in an RN to BSN program and shall complete such program within 6 years of the date of hire.
(c) All school nurses hired on or after July 1, 2020, shall hold a bachelor's degree in nursing.
3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
