AN ACT relative to the appointment of the state medical director for emergency medical services.

This bill requires the commissioner of the department of safety to appoint the state medical director for emergency medical services.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen

 

AN ACT relative to the appointment of the state medical director for emergency medical services.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Subparagraph; Duties of the Commissioner of the Department of Safety; Appointment of State Medical Director for Emergency Medical Services.  Amend RSA 153-A:7, II by inserting after subparagraph (b) the following new subparagraph:

(c)  Appoint the state medical director for emergency medical services, who shall be academically and technically qualified to hold the position.

2  New Subparagraph; Emergency Medical Services Medical Control Board; State Medical Director.  Amend RSA 153-A:5, I by inserting after subparagraph (b) the following new subparagraph:

(c)  The state medical director for emergency medical services, appointed by the commissioner pursuant to RSA 153-A:7, II(c), who shall serve as a nonvoting member.

3  Reference Change.  Amend the section heading of RSA 153-A:5 to read as follows:

153-A:5  Emergency Medical Services Medical Control Board; Chair; Duties[; State Medical Director].

4  Emergency Medical Services Medical Control Board.  Amend RSA 153-A:5, II to read as follows:

II.  The terms of each member shall be 3 years.  The chair shall be appointed by the commissioner[, and the appointed chair shall become the state medical director].  The emergency medical services medical control board shall nominate one of its members to the governor for appointment to the coordinating board established in RSA 153-A:3.

5  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
