AN ACT relative to access to child abuse or neglect information by certain legislative committees.

ANALYSIS

 

This bill permits the senate and house judiciary committees to review the confidential records of child protection cases.  The bill also permits any party or attorney to an abuse or neglect case to testify before the legislature regarding the case.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen

 

AN ACT relative to access to child abuse or neglect information by certain legislative committees.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Paragraph; Child Protection Act; Confidentiality; Records Provided to Certain Legislative Committees.  Amend RSA 169-C:25 by inserting after paragraph III the following new paragraph:

IV.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the records of any such proceeding shall be accessible to the senate judiciary committee and the house judiciary committee upon request and any party or attorney to any such proceeding may testify before those committees concerning the same.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
