AN ACT relative to nepotism in state employment.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nineteen

 

AN ACT relative to nepotism in state employment.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

164:1  Executive Branch Code of Ethics; Nepotism.  Amend RSA 21-G:26-a to read as follows:

21-G:26-a  Nepotism.  No executive branch official or classified employee shall directly hire, evaluate, set the compensation or salary for, supervise, or terminate the employment of any full-time or part-time employee, temporary employee, or member of a state board or commission if such employee or member is related to such official in one of the following ways:

I.  Spouse;

II.  Parent by birth or adoption; stepparent;

III.  Son or daughter by birth or adoption;

IV.  Stepson or stepdaughter;

V.  Brother or sister by whole or half blood or by adoption; [or]

VI.  Mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, or son-in-law; or

VII.  Grandparent or grandchild.

164:2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
