ANALYSIS

 

This bill prohibits the state from clear cutting trees from certain parts of state-owned land.  This bill also requires the state to remove debris after it select cuts trees from certain parts of state-owned land.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty

 

AN ACT relative to removal of trees from state property.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Section; Forest Cutting.  Amend RSA 227-I by inserting after section 4 the following new section:

227-I:4-a  Forest Cutting.  The state shall not clear cut trees within 75 feet of the developed land of a private abutter.  If the state intends to select cut trees in such area, the state shall clear all slash and debris from such area, including dead trees which are no longer supported by the remaining trees, when finished with select cutting operations.  

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
