STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty

 

AN ACT relative to ex-officio members of budget committees and planning boards.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Municipal Budget Committee Membership.  Amend RSA 32:15, I(b) to read as follows:

(b)  One non-voting, ex officio member of the governing body of the municipality and, if the municipality is a town, one non-voting, ex officio member of the school board of each school district wholly within the town and one member of each village district wholly within the town, all of whom shall be appointed by their respective boards to serve for a term of one year and until their successors are qualified.  Each such ex officio member may be represented by an alternate member designated by the respective board, who shall, when sitting, have the same authority as the regular non-voting, ex officio member.

2  Planning and Zoning; Definitions; Ex Officio Member.  Amend RSA 672:5 to read as follows:

672:5  Ex Officio Member.  "Ex officio member" means any member who holds office by virtue of an official position and who shall exercise all the powers of regular members of a local land use board except voting.

3  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
