STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty

 

AN ACT relative to selectmen pro tem on state election day.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Pre-Election Procedure; Absences Among Election Officers; Selectmen Pro Tem.  Amend RSA 658:21-a to read as follows:

658:21-a  Selectmen Pro Tem.  At least one selectman shall be present in the polling place at all times during an election.  However, if a selectman is absent from or unable to perform his or her duties for all or any part of the day at any state election, the selectman is authorized to appoint a selectman pro tem to perform his or her duties.  If one or more selectmen are absent or unable to perform their duties and have not appointed selectmen pro tem, or if a selectman pro tem is absent or unable to perform his or her duties for all or any part of the day, the moderator is authorized to appoint selectmen pro tem to perform their duties.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
