ANALYSIS

 

This bill requires video surveillance cameras in group homes, residential and day schools, and buildings where services are provided for children and adults with disabilities.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty

 

AN ACT relative to the installation of video surveillance cameras in community homes and group homes.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Section; New Hampshire Building Code; Group Homes; Residential Schools; Programs Providing Services to Children and Adults with Disabilities; Video Surveillance Cameras.  Amend RSA 155-A by inserting after section 3-c the following new section:

155-A:3-d  Code Requirements; Facilities for Adults and Children with Disabilities.  Notwithstanding any provisions of the state building code or state fire code, the state building code review board shall adopt amendments to the state building code to require video surveillance cameras in common living areas, dining areas, hallways, classrooms, and time-out rooms in all group homes, residential and day schools, and buildings where services are provided for children and adults with disabilities.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
