1 New Chapter; Employment Preference for Members of a Civilian National Service Organization. Amend RSA by inserting after chapter 99-F the following new chapter:

CHAPTER 99-G

EMPLOYMENT PREFERENCE FOR MEMBERS OF A

CIVILIAN NATIONAL SERVICE ORGANIZATION

99-G:1 Employment Preference for Members of a Civilian National Service Organization. Each executive branch agency shall develop and implement a policy to provide employment preferences in public employment for current members and alumni of AmeriCorps, the Peace Corps, or other civilian national service organizations. The policy shall require all executive branch agencies to interview any applicant who is a current member or alumnus of a civilian national service organization and who meets the minimum qualifications specified by the agency or state law for the position desired. The applicant, if required, shall submit proof of successful completion of a civilian national service program, satisfactory service, performance, and disciplinary record while engaged in the program, and a signed authorization for the release of information to the executive branch agency which may be necessary in the application process.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
