1 New Section; Emergency Vehicles; Markings. Amend RSA 266 by inserting after section 73 the following new section:

266:73-a Emergency Vehicles; Markings.

I. Emergency vehicles used by law enforcement shall:

(a) Have distinctive, contrasting markings and identification on both sides of such vehicles rendering such vehicles clearly distinguishable from non-emergency vehicles; and

(b) Have a license plate that indicates the vehicle is in use as a law enforcement vehicle.

II. An emergency vehicle used by law enforcement in an undercover operation is exempt from paragraph I and shall be prohibited from enforcing motor vehicle laws except in the case of an emergency.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage
