This bill allows the secretary of state to suspend the registration of a lobbyist who fails to comply with requirements in law.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty

 

AN ACT relative to the penalty for failure to comply with the requirements for lobbyists.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Lobbyist Registration; Suspension by Secretary of State.  Amend RSA 15:8 to read as follows:

15:8  Penalty.

I. Whoever violates any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor if a natural person, or guilty of a felony if any other person.

II.  Whoever shall make and file any statement under this chapter which is to his or her knowledge false shall be deemed guilty of perjury and punished accordingly.

III.  The secretary of state may suspend the registration of any person who is determined to have failed to comply with any provision of this chapter.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2021.
