METHODOLOGY:
This bill requires the office of the chief medical examiner (OCME) to investigate all sudden undetermined infant deaths for potential vaccine-related correlations. The Department of Justice states that the bill will likely increase the OCME's toxicology budget as it will require testing, to the extent such testing is available, for most, if not all, ingredients contained in vaccines. The Department is unable to estimate the total cost, but notes that the current toxicology tests for sudden undetermined infant deaths cost $347 apiece. An additional test for aluminum alone would increase screening costs by $128 per test. The Department notes that for the most recent years with data available, roughly 10 sudden undetermined infant deaths occurred.
The Department of Health and Human Services states the bill will not impact its responsibilities, and as such the bill will have no fiscal impact on the Department.
