AN ACT prohibiting paper billing fees.

ANALYSIS

 

This bill provides that charging a separate fee to receive a paper billing statement shall be a violation of the consumer protection act.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty

 

AN ACT prohibiting paper billing fees.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Paragraph; Regulation of Business Practices for Consumer Protection; Acts.  Unlawful; Paper Billing Fees.  Amend RSA 358-A:2 by inserting after paragraph XVII the following new paragraph:

XVIII.  Charging a separate fee to receive a paper billing statement, as opposed to an electronic billing statement, for goods or services.   

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
