METHODOLOGY:

This bill adds a new category of individuals to whom the Department of Health and Human Services and area agencies will be obligated to provide services under RSA 171-A, the developmental disabilities statute.  The new category is comprised of individuals aged 18-21 enrolled in school and determined eligible for developmental services that are not the legal responsibility of the local education agency, another state agency, or another division of the Department.  The Department states that it is unable to estimate the number of individuals who may request funding under the bill.  For illustrative purposes, information provided to the Department by the area agencies indicates that approximately 560 potentially eligible individuals are currently between the ages of 18 and 21.
