AN ACT relative to the Honor and Remember Flag.

ANALYSIS

 

This bill adopts the national Honor and Remember Flag as a symbol recognizing and honoring fallen members of the armed forces from New Hampshire.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty

 

AN ACT relative to the Honor and Remember Flag.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Statement of Purpose.  The general court finds that:

I.  Since the Revolutionary War, more than 1,000,000 members of the United States Armed Forces have paid the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives in the line of duty.

II.  The contributions of New Hampshire's fallen members of the Armed Forces are deserving of recognition.

III.  Currently, there is no state symbol that acknowledges New Hampshire service members who died in the line of duty.

2  New Sections; Honor and Remember Flag.  Amend RSA 3 by inserting after section 3-b the following new sections:

3:3-c  Official Adoption of Honor and Remember Flag.  The Honor and Remember Flag created by Honor and Remember, Inc., is hereby recognized as New Hampshire's symbol honoring the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces from New Hampshire who gave their lives while serving or as a result of service to our country.

3:3-d  Display of Honor and Remember Flag.  The Honor and Remember Flag shall be displayed by the state daily at the New Hampshire state veterans cemetery in Boscawen and above the state house in Concord in the most junior order of precedence on the following days:

I.  Memorial Day, the last Monday in May.

II.  National Gold Star Mother’s Day, the last Sunday in September.

3  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
