Floor Amendment to HB 2-FN-A-LOCAL

 

Amend the bill by inserting after section 460 the following and renumbering the original section 461 to read as 462.

 

461  Department of Health and Human Services; Child Protective Service Worker Positions; Appropriation.

I.  The sums of $727,388 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022 and $779,983 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023 are hereby appropriated to the department of health and human services for the purpose of funding 10 child protective service worker (CPSW) positions in addition to those funded by the operating budget.  Of the amount appropriated in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, $519,792 shall be state general funds and $207,596 shall be federal funds.  Of the amount appropriated in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023, $557,376 shall be state general funds and $222,607 shall be federal funds.  The governor is authorized to draw a warrant for the general fund share of said amounts out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

II.  If all CPSW positions authorized by paragraph I and the operating budget are filled during the biennium ending June 30, 2023, the department may request additional funds from the fiscal committee of the general court to fund up to 12 additional CPSW positions.  With the approval of the fiscal committee of the general court, the amount necessary to fund the additional CPSW positions shall be appropriated to the department of health and human services for the biennium ending June 30, 2023.  The governor is authorized to draw a warrant for the general fund share of said amount out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
