STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Two

 

AN ACT relative to the weighing of vehicles.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Equipment of Vehicles; Authority to Weigh Commercial Vehicles.  Amend RSA 266:17 to read as follows:

266:17 Weighing of Vehicles.  The driver of every commercial motor vehicle shall, upon request of any law enforcement officer, stop and submit to a weighing of said motor vehicle by means of either portable or stationary scales. If such scales are not available at the place where the stopping occurs, upon request of a law enforcement officer, the driver shall drive said motor vehicle to the nearest public scales provided the distance to the public scales does not exceed 10 miles.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
