HOUSE RESOLUTION No. 22
Memorializing Katherine Rogers of Concord

 

WHEREAS, we have learned with profound sorrow of the passing of our colleague and friend, Katherine Rogers, who was serving her eighth term as a State Representative from her native city of Concord; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Rogers was a dedicated public servant, who beyond her time in this House, served as a Concord City Councilor, Merrimack County Attorney and Merrimack County Commissioner; and

WHEREAS, a fierce defender of our most vulnerable citizens, including youth, victims of domestic violence, and the elderly, Katherine Rogers used her offices for good, establishing protections for all New Hampshire citizens, in a caring and compassionate way; and

WHEREAS, as a lover of animals and protector of those with no voice, Katherine Rogers sponsored countless pieces of legislation to improve the lives of animals great and small in this state, and when the time came to shave her head while battling cancer, she turned the event into a fundraiser for the SPCA; and

WHEREAS, despite her professional background as a campaigner and unabashed pride at being called a “leftie,” Kathi Rogers cared about the House and the many personal relationships she built over the years, irrespective of party, touching the lives of all assembled in this chamber; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, by the House of Representatives in Regular Session convened, Katherine Rogers be granted the highest praise and accolades and our profound thanks for her service to New Hampshire, and Concord, the city she called home all her life.
