HOUSE RESOLUTION No. 24
Memorializing Mary E. Griffin of Windham
WHEREAS, we have learned with profound sorrow of the passing of our colleague and friend, Mary E. Griffin, who was serving her thirteenth term as a State Representative, representing the town of Windham; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated public servant, Mary Griffin served three terms on the Committee on Municipal and County Government and ten terms on the Committee on Ways and Means, served ten terms as Vice Chair of the Rockingham County Delegation and served on dozens of committees and commissions; and
WHEREAS, Mary Griffin was known for her grace, style and poise, dancing her way into winning the Ms. Senior New Hampshire competition in 1993, and leading this body in the National Anthem on a myriad of occasions; and
WHEREAS, Mary Griffin was extremely active in her community, chairing numerous boards, serving countless causes, and taping her weekly television show which featured more political guests than some well-known New Hampshire networks, a dedication that continued right up until her illness left her in care; and
WHEREAS, above all, Mary Griffin was the personification of a gentlelady, who worked well with all of her legislative colleagues, speaking ill of none, and reciprocally, receiving none either; now, be it therefore
RESOLVED, by the House of Representatives in Regular Session convened, Mary E. Griffin be granted our highest praise and accolades and offered our profound thanks for her service to her home community and the State of New Hampshire.
