AN ACT directing that a portion of revenue distributions from the meals and rooms municipal revenue fund be used by municipalities to reduce the local property tax rate.

ANALYSIS

 

This bill requires that a portion of revenues distributed to municipalities from the meals and rooms municipal revenue fund, which exceed fiscal year 2021 amounts received, shall be used to reduce the local property tax rate.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Two

 

AN ACT directing that a portion of revenue distributions from the meals and rooms municipal revenue fund be used by municipalities to reduce the local property tax rate.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Paragraph; Meals and Rooms Tax; Distributions.  Amend RSA 78-A:26 by inserting after paragraph IV the following new paragraph:

V.  Of the amount to be distributed from the meals and rooms municipal revenue fund pursuant to paragraph III, up to 60 percent of the amount distributed to an unincorporated town, unorganized place, town, or city that is in excess of the amount distributed in fiscal year 2021 shall be used by the unincorporated town, unorganized place, town, or city to reduce the local property tax rate.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2022.
