Floor Amendment to HB 2-FN-A-LOCAL
Amend the bill by inserting after section 605 the following new sections and renumbering the final effective date to the last section:
606 Career and Technical Education Incentive Grant. Recognizing the inherent transportation barriers to participation in career and technical education by students in sending school districts, there shall be established a career and technical education incentive grant, the purpose of which is to encourage transportation of students from sending career and technical education programs to receiving career and technical education programs. Awards made under this grant program shall be on a competitive basis based on criteria established by the department of education.
607 Career and Technical Education Incentive Grant; Appropriation. The department of education is hereby appropriated $4,000,000 of non-lapsing funds in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023, for the establishment of a competitive grant program to encourage transportation of students from sending career and technical education programs to receiving career and technical education programs. The governor is authorized to draw a warrant for said sum out of any money in the education trust fund.
I. Section 606 of this act shall take effect upon its passage.
II. Section 607 of this act shall take effect June 30, 2023.
