This bill requires public playgrounds constructed on or after January 1, 2024 to have resilient solid surface materials for accessibility to the playground and each piece of equipment.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Three

 

AN ACT relative to public playground accessibility.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

196:1  New Subdivision; Public Playground Accessibility.  Amend RSA 155 by inserting after section 82 the following new subdivision:

Public Playground Accessibility

155:83  Public Playground Accessibility.  Any public playground constructed on or after January 1, 2024 shall, in addition to meeting general safety standards and Americans With Disabilities Act standards, include accessible pathways made from resilient solid surface material that is not a loose fill or aggregate, beginning at the entrance of the playground, continuing to each piece of playground equipment, and extending to the playground exit.  

196:2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
