STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Three
AN ACT relative to federal immigration checkpoints.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Federal Immigration Checkpoints. Amend RSA 265 by inserting after section 1-c the following new section:
265:1-d Federal Immigration Checkpoints. When a state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency is informed by a federal agency of the intent to conduct an immigration checkpoint, such law enforcement agency shall give notice to the public within 24 hours of when the checkpoint is scheduled to occur or as soon as is practical. The notice shall disclose, if known, the date, the time it will begin, and the municipality including the street or streets in which the checkpoint will occur. Notice to the public shall be provided by using various media resources available, which may include publishing this information on the government agency's website and on social media, or the use of press conferences, press releases, radio and television coverage, posters, and flyers.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
