AN ACT relative to the registration of high school students to vote.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four

 

AN ACT relative to the registration of high school students to vote.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Paragraph; Instruction in National and State History and Government; Voter Registration.  Amend RSA 189:11 by inserting after paragraph II the following new paragraph:

III. Each school district and private high school shall adopt policies to promote student voter registration. Policies may include collaboration with the town or city clerk and the supervisor of the checklist to conduct voter registration at high schools.  Completion of voter registration shall not be a course requirement or graded assignment for students.  Policies shall include:

(a) Informing students of state requirements for voter registration; and

(b) Providing access to and assistance with filing registration applications.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
