This bill prohibits the state treasurer, state agencies, and political subdivisions from accepting a payment using central bank digital currency or participating in a test of central bank digital currency by any Federal Reserve branch.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four
AN ACT prohibiting state or local governments from using central bank digital currency.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; State Treasurer; Bank Requirements; Prohibition on Central Bank Digital Currency. Amend RSA 6 by inserting after section 7-a the following new section:
6:7-b Prohibition on Central Bank Digital Currency.
I. The state treasurer, and each agency, department, and political subdivision of the state shall not:
(a) Accept a payment using central bank digital currency.
(b) Participate in any test of central bank digital currency by any Federal Reserve branch.
II. In this section, "central bank digital currency" means a digital currency used by a central bank and made available to the general public. The Federal Reserve does not currently recognize or use central bank digital currency.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
