STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Board of Tax and Land Appeals; Appointment. Amend RSA 71-B:2 to read as follows:
71-B:2 Appointment; Term; Chairman. The members of the board shall be appointed by the [supreme court and commissioned by the] governor and executive council for a term of 3 years and until their successors are appointed and qualified; provided, however, that any vacancy on the board shall be filled for the unexpired term. The [supreme court] governor and council shall [designate] appoint one member as chairman to serve in that capacity for the duration of his or her term. The executive council shall hold a hearing prior to confirmation according to the procedures under RSA 4:44. A member may be removed under RSA 71-B:3 according to the procedures in RSA 4:1.
2 Housing Appeals Board; Appointment. Amend RSA 679:2 to read as follows:
679:2 Appointment; Term; Chair. The members of the board shall be appointed by the [supreme court and commissioned by the] governor and executive council for a term of 5 years and until their successors are appointed and qualified; provided, however, that any vacancy on the board shall be filled for the unexpired term. The initial members of the board shall serve staggered terms of 3, 4, and 5 years. The [supreme court] governor and council shall [designate] appoint one member as chair to serve in that capacity for the duration of his or her term. The executive council shall hold a hearing prior to confirmation according to the procedures under RSA 4:44. A member may be removed under RSA 679:3 according to the procedures in RSA 4:1.
3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2025.
