If the remaining term is greater than one year until the next regular municipal election, in the case of an appointment made by the chair, a special election shall be held. The attorney general may enforce this section by bringing a suit against any person refusing to abandon one of the 2 positions and a court may order the person to vacate one of the positions and asses costs to reimburse the attorney general.
3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2025.
