STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four

 

AN ACT relative to the educational credentials for master teacher.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Master Teacher.  RSA 189:14-f is repealed and reenacted to read as follows:

189:14-f Master Teacher.

I. The state board of education shall grant the educational credential of master teacher to those persons who have fulfilled at least the following requirements:

(a)  Teaching experience, including at least 7 years during which a teaching certificate requiring knowledge and performance of the professional education standards or comparable teaching standards from another state was held;

(b)  Demonstrated quality teaching of the professional education standards or comparable teaching standards from another state to be satisfied by meeting evaluation criteria for a high rating on the teacher’s local evaluation system; and

(c)  The creation of a portfolio documenting leadership activities that is highly rated in the following areas:

(1)  Professional classroom practice.

(2)  Leadership.

(3)  Ensuring that each child receives what they need to develop and realize their full academic and social potential.

(4)  Collaboration.

(5)  Professional learning.

II. The purposes of the credential are to identify highly qualified, experienced teachers to serve as resources who contribute to improved student learning, a positive school environment, and increased collaboration.

III. Master teachers shall have no authority to effectively recommend any personnel action.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
