METHODOLOGY:
This bill increases the maximum amount of disaster relief aid a municipality may receive in a calendar year under RSA 21-P:37-e from $25,000 to $100,000. It should be noted that RSA 21-P:37 states that any aid approved would be disbursed from the NH Disaster Relief Fund in RSA 21-P:46-a, however, RSA 21-P:46, relative to the New Hampshire Emergency Response and Recovery Fund, also allows for such use. There is no appropriation included in this bill, nor mechanism for funding to be accessed, beyond existing balances in the funds. The balances for each fund, as of June 30, 2024, is as follows:
To the extent this bill provides no new funding, and the number of requests approved cannot be predicted, any fiscal impact relative to relief aid is indeterminable.
