AN ACT relative to a parent's access to their minor child's library records.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Five

 

AN ACT relative to a parent's access to their minor child's library records.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Paragraph; Library User Records; Confidentiality; Access to Library Records of Minors.  Amend RSA 201-D:11 by inserting after paragraph II the following new paragraph:

II-a.  All library records related to a minor's current borrowing of printed library materials and audio-visual materials, such as DVDs and CDs, shall be available to the parent or legal guardian of the minor when requested by the parent or legal guardian listed on the library account.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2026.
