STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Five

 

AN ACT requiring education on child abuse and neglect for certain healthcare providers as a condition for licensure.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Section; Child Abuse and Neglect; Training for Licensure of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants.  Amend RSA 169-C by inserting after section 169-C:39-l the following new section:

169-C:39-m  Child Abuse and Neglect Training for Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants.  

As a condition for new or continued licensure in New Hampshire, physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who treat patients under 18 years of age shall be required to complete 2 hours of education on child abuse and neglect.  This education shall be accredited for category 1 medical or nursing hours and shall be recognized by the New Hampshire chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics as covering the topics of recognition, reporting, and working with the child protection system.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
