Amendment to HB 546-FN

 

Amend the title of the bill by replacing it with the following:

 

AN ACT relative to financial disclosures and the public reporting of those disclosures by the secretary of state.

 

Amend the bill by replacing all after the enacting clause with the following:

 

1  New Paragraph; Reporting by Political Committees and Individuals to the Secretary of State.  Amend RSA 664:6 by inserting after paragraph I the following new paragraph:

I-a.  Notwithstanding any other provision of RSA 664:6 to the contrary, any current house member or state senator who receives a contribution or expenditure exceeding $1,000, shall file an itemized statement with the secretary of state within 48 hours of receiving such funds, detailing the full name and postal address of the donor, the amount of the contribution, and the date received.

2  Reporting Schedule.  Amend RSA 664:6, I(i) to read as follows:

(i) Fourth Wednesday after the general election[.];

(j)  The first day of each month between the fourth Wednesday after the general election and the first Wednesday in June following the state general election.

3  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.

AMENDED ANALYSIS

 

This bill requires timely reporting of significant contributions received by current legislators and establishes an updated schedule for ongoing financial disclosures.
