STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Five

 

AN ACT relative to the sale of products labeled as biodegradable or compostable.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Paragraph; Solid Waste Management; Sales of Certain Products.  Amend RSA 149-M:27 by inserting after paragraph V the following new paragraph:

VI.  No person shall sell or offer for sale in this state any product labeled as biodegradable or compostable unless the product meets third-party certification by an organization such as BPI or others that adhere to the ASTM 6400 standard as set forth by the American Society for Testing and Materials.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage
