Floor Amendment to HB 60

Amend RSA 540:2, II(i) as inserted by section 1 of the bill by replacing it with the following:

(i)  Within any 12-month period for which the rental vacancy rate for the state is 2.5 percent or higher, the expiration of a lease of not less than 6 months shall constitute good cause for eviction, provided that the landlord has given the tenant written notice at least 60 days in advance of the termination date of the lease term that the lease will not be renewed and that the tenant must vacate the rental property at the end of the lease term. The vacancy rate shall be determined annually by the New Hampshire housing finance authority as part of its Annual Residential Rental Cost Survey Report, and the 12-month period during which the expiration of the lease constitutes good cause for eviction shall begin on January 1 of the year immediately following publication of the vacancy rate.
