Amendment to SB 257

Amend the bill by replacing section 3 with the following:

3  Duties.  The committee shall study the possibility of changing Medicaid eligibility determinations in New Hampshire from SSI 209b to SSA 1634 as 39 other states currently do.  The committee shall examine the alternative pathways for Medicaid eligibility determinations, identify the states that provide Medicaid coverage automatically as part of the SSI application process (known as 1634 states), and those states, like New Hampshire, that apply more restrictive eligibility criteria than the SSI criteria (known as 209(b) states).  The committee shall also consider the purpose of the system of care for healthy aging outlined in RSA 151-E:22 and RSA 151-E:23.  The committee shall solicit information from the department of health and human services and county nursing homes as part of the study.

Amend the bill by replacing section 5 with the following:

5  Report.  The committee shall report its findings and any recommendations for proposed legislation to the president of the senate, the speaker of the house of representatives, the senate clerk, the house clerk, the governor, and the state library on or before November 1, 2026.
