This bill allows residential buildings up to 4 floors above grade plane to have only one stairway under conditions established by the state building code review board.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Five

 

AN ACT relative to stairway requirements in certain residential buildings.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Paragraph; Public Safety and Welfare; New Hampshire Building Code; State Building Code.  Amend RSA 155-A:2 by inserting after paragraph XI the following new paragraph:

XII.  Notwithstanding the adopted edition of the International Building Code in the state building code under RSA 155-A:1, IV, or any other provision of law to the contrary, residential buildings up to four floors above grade plane shall be allowed to have only one stairway under conditions established by the state building code review board.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
